Vietnam's 81st National Day celebrated in Sydney: a renewed Vietnam and a shared vision for future cooperation
In a solemn yet warm atmosphere at New South Wales Parliament House, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney hosted a ceremony marking the 81st National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (2 September 1945 – 2 September 2026). Dr. Iris Tran Nguyen, Co-Founder of PISTIS GROUP and Vice Chair of the Australia Vietnam Business Council (AVBC), attended alongside representatives of the NSW Government, the diplomatic corps, business leaders, academics and the Vietnamese community in Australia.
A warm celebration in the heart of Sydney
The ceremony brought together a large gathering of guests, including representatives of the NSW Government and members of the NSW Parliament, the diplomatic corps, community leaders, Vietnamese–Australian businesses, and members of the Vietnamese diaspora and student community living and working in Sydney.
In his opening remarks, the Consul General of Vietnam in Sydney reflected on the historic significance of 2 September 1945, highlighted Vietnam's achievements after more than four decades of Đổi Mới reform, and noted the strong momentum of the Vietnam–Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
A highlight of the evening was a photo exhibition on Vietnam's landscapes and people, staged within Parliament House, followed by a reception that blended the culinary traditions of both countries.

Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Iris Tran Nguyen shared:
