Vietnamese construction materials conquer Australian market at Sydney Build Expo 2025
On May 7-8, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in collaboration with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney and the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia organized the “Ho Chi Minh City Pavilion” at the Sydney Build Expo 2025. The event marked the prominent presence of the Vietnamese construction industry on the international stage with a scale of more than 30 booths, attracting special attention from experts and visitors.
Sydney Build Expo is Australia’s largest construction and design exhibition, sponsored by the Lord Mayor of Sydney and the Premier of New South Wales. This is a strategic trade forum that helps Vietnamese businesses access distribution networks, contractors and large-scale construction projects in Australia and around the world.

This year’s “Ho Chi Minh City Pavilion Cluster” brings together 30 typical enterprises, members of the Ho Chi Minh City Construction and Building Materials Association (SACA) and the Ho Chi Minh City Mechanical and Electrical Enterprises Association (HAMEE), introducing many modern, environmentally friendly construction material products and technologies.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, commented: “This event is of practical significance in the context of the expanding construction supply chain between Vietnam and Australia . In the first quarter of 2025 alone, Vietnam’s steel exports to Australia increased by 61%, and electric cables increased by 53%.”
Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoa – Head of the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, affirmed that the exhibition is a continuation of the process of promoting trade in the Vietnamese construction industry that the Trade Office has been working hard to implement since 2019. He added: “After the exhibition, we will continue to connect Vietnamese enterprises with investment funds, projects and logistics partners to strengthen the position of the Vietnamese supply chain in the Australian market”.

ITPC representative, Mr. Dao Minh Chanh said: “The Sydney Build 2025 Exhibition is a special opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City businesses to expand their market, grasp consumer trends and seek partners in Australia – a country that has just upgraded its relationship with Vietnam to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership”.
Within the framework of the exhibition, business representatives such as Mr. Nguyen Kinh Luan – Deputy General Director of Hoa Binh Construction Group emphasized the great potential in the Australian market: “Australia has a fast construction speed but lacks engineers and skilled workers. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to supply high-quality materials and penetrate deeply into the international construction value chain.”
Vietnamese products have made a strong impression on visitors. Engineer Johnathan Linnane from Wollongong City Council commented: “Vietnamese bricks have creative and unique designs”. Meanwhile, engineer Carmen Bawelkiewics said that products from Vietnam “have great potential to meet the needs of innovation in material technology of the Australian market”.

On the sidelines of the exhibition, seminars on sustainable material trends, technology commercialization, and international market access strategies were also held, creating conditions for businesses to learn and establish extensive cooperation networks.
From May 7-8, 2025, the Ho Chi Minh City Construction and Building Materials Association (SACA) officially participated in the Sydney Build Expo 2025, the leading annual event in the construction industry in Australia.
With careful preparation and clear strategic direction, SACA has gathered more than 20 outstanding members, bringing many diverse exhibition booths, introducing advanced construction materials, new technologies and creative solutions from Vietnam. This participation not only contributes to strongly promoting Vietnamese brands in the international market but also creates conditions for member businesses to approach partners, investors and global value chains in the construction industry.
Notably, within the framework of the exhibition, SACA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pistis Group – a business development and trade promotion consultancy based in Australia.

This Memorandum of Understanding marks an important step forward in the cooperative relationship between the two parties, aiming to promote Vietnamese construction materials in the Australian market, connect member businesses with international partners, and coordinate the organization of trade promotion activities, specialized seminars and investment connection programs in many countries such as Australia, New Zealand, India, the US and the UK.
The signing of the MOU is a strategic step in the journey to bring SACA member businesses deeper into the global market, especially the potential Australian market.
