PROMOTION OF BUILDING MATERIAL TRADE AND COOPERATION IN CONSTRUCTION & PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT AUSTRALIA VIETNAM SUMMIT 2024 SUCCESSFULLY HELD AT PARK HYATT SYDNEY

 

Park Hyatt Sydney, Australia, May 15, 2024 — Promotion Of Building Material Trade And Cooperation In Construction & Property Development Australia Vietnam Summit 2024 was a resounding success. The event was organized by Pistis Group with the support of the Embassy of Vietnam in Australia and the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia.

The forum attracted more than 120 delegates, including representatives from the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia; Vietnam Trade Counselor in Australia; Business NSW; Australia Vietnam Business Council (AVBC); Ho Chi Minh City Association of Construction and Building Materials (SACA); Binh Duong Construction Association (BDCA); Handicraft and Wood Industry Association of HCMC (HAWA); MB Bank – South Binh Duong Branch; experts; and businesses involved in the production of building materials, construction, and real estate development from both Vietnam and Australia.

This forum marked one of the first trade promotion events between the two nations following the announcement by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to elevate the bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at the Annual Leaders’ Meeting on March 7, 2024.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoa, Vietnam Trade Counselor in Australia, welcomed Vietnamese enterprises and reaffirmed the Vietnam Trade Office’s commitment to supporting Vietnamese companies in market exploration and export activities in Australia.

According to Mr. Grame Barty, International Trade Advisor of Business NSW, Australia needs 1.2 million new homes by 2029, including 375,000 new homes in NSW alone over the next five years. This presents a golden opportunity for Vietnamese building materials manufacturers to export to the Australian market.

Ms. Azalia Canuto-Ahmat, AVBC Secretary, discussed the housing development and demand for Indigenous Australians. A 10-year agreement worth AUD 4 billion between the Federal Government and the Northern Territory Government aims to construct 270 homes per year for remote Indigenous communities.

Mr. Ron Cross, CEO of Pistis Group, presented on the rising costs of building materials, supply shortages, and the lack of skilled labor in the construction sector.

Mr. Jonathan McCray – Materials Engineer at ARUP – provided insights into compliance with Australia’s National Construction Code and related technical standards for building materials, focusing on: Steel, Windows, and Sustainable Construction Materials.

Architect Le Viet Hai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Construction & Building Materials (SACA), presented on Vietnam’s Building Materials Supply Chain and General Contractor Services.

Representatives from Vietnamese building material manufacturers, including Mr. Pham Ngoc Thanh – Deputy CEO of TASA Group; Mr. Hoang Nguyen Son – Export Sales Director of ATAD Steel Structure Corporation; and Mr. Luong The Nam – Export Director of Thach Ban Co., Ltd., showcased advanced building material products and technologies, affirming their quality and competitiveness in the international market.

During the Forum, a contract signing ceremony was held between Viettel Construction Corporation and HBC Build Australia for the procurement of building materials for the Ramada Sky Hotel and a residential project for people over 50 years old in Warwick.

Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Mai, representative of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, acknowledged the forum’s feedback and shared the embassy’s ongoing efforts in connecting businesses and promoting Vietnamese products. She reaffirmed the embassy’s continued support for Vietnamese enterprises.

During the one-hour Q&A session, Vietnamese building material manufacturers shared their export experiences, effective market entry strategies, and directly consulted with Mr. Jonathan McCray of ARUP on Australian quality standards and import regulations.

The networking luncheon at Park Hyatt Sydney, overlooking the Opera House, offered Vietnamese enterprises the opportunity to build potential export and investment partnerships with Australian real estate developers and construction firms.
