Kinhtedothi – Continuing the working program in Australia and New Zealand, from March 31 to April 3, the Hanoi delegation led by Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan visited and worked in Australia.

Accordingly, on March 31, in Sydney city, the delegation had a working session with Mr. Rodney John Roberts – Deputy President of the Senate of New South Wales, Australia.

Here, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome of the leaders of New South Wales. Introducing the capital city of Hanoi, the Chairman of the City People’s Council emphasized the outstanding achievements in the city’s socio-economic development, and expressed his hope that the Vice President of the Senate and the New South Wales state parliamentarians would be a bridge to promote the good friendship, strengthen business connection activities, promote investment, trade, tourism, education and training between Hanoi and Sydney and other localities of Australia; continue policies of interest, creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Australia.

Welcoming the delegation from Hanoi, Mr. Rodney John Roberts affirmed that he will continue to coordinate and promote the good friendship between New South Wales State, including Sydney City, and Hanoi City.

At the meeting, the two sides also exchanged and shared information on the structure, organization, and model of the three-level government; experiences in building and promulgating mechanisms and policies for economic development, urban management, environment, transportation, culture, society, and monitoring activities of elected agencies.

*On the same afternoon, in Sydney, a delegation from Hanoi attended the Conference “Promoting Investment, Trade and Tourism between Hanoi and Australia 2025”.

Attending the conference were leaders of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Australian Trade and Investment Commission; representatives of Business Councils, Business Associations and more than 120 Australian businesses and investors.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan emphasized the strong development of the Vietnam – Australia relationship, especially after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council affirmed Hanoi’s commitment to improving the investment environment, with the goal of economic growth reaching 8% or more, creating a premise for the 2026-2030 period, aiming for double-digit growth, so Hanoi is a safe, attractive and potential destination, a favorable investment environment for foreign businesses and investors, including Australia.

Speaking at the conference, Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney Nguyen Thanh Tung highly appreciated Hanoi for successfully organizing the Conference “Promoting Investment, Trade and Tourism between Hanoi and Australia 2025”. This is a meaningful conference, the largest in scale among Vietnamese localities organized in Sydney.

The conference attracted trade – investment – tourism promotion organizations, industry associations and more than 120 businesses and investors in the fields of investment, construction, import-export, healthcare, tourism, education and training, technology, innovation… looking for opportunities for substantive investment cooperation with Vietnam.

Believing that there is still a lot of room for cooperation, investment promotion, trade and tourism between Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular with Australian localities, Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney Nguyen Thanh Tung believes that after this conference, there will be more exchange activities, market surveys, and joint development of promotion programs, especially in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, education, technology and digital transformation.

*Leaving Sydney, the delegation visited and worked with the Canberra Government. Here, Mr. Chris Steel, Minister for Planning and Sustainable Development of Canberra, received the delegation.

The two sides discussed solutions to promote economic growth, planning, planning management, transportation, wastewater and waste treatment, air environment improvement, and renewable energy.

Regarding the direction of cooperation between the two capitals, the two sides agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, strengthen cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, education and training, and culture; and consider signing an official cooperation agreement between the two capitals of Hanoi and Canberra.

In Melbourne, the delegation visited the Victorian Parliament and worked with Ms. Maree Edwards, Speaker of the Victorian House of Representatives.

Here, the Speaker of the Victorian House of Representatives introduced to the Hanoi delegation the model of government organization of Australia, states and cities of Australia; exchanged and shared experiences in activities, especially the building of policies and monitoring activities of elected bodies.

Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan respectfully thanked the Speaker of the Victorian House of Representatives and proposed that the Victorian Parliament become a bridge to promote friendly relations between Australian localities and Hanoi in various fields; continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and studying in Melbourne and other localities of Victoria.

*During the visit, the delegation worked with the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Association in Australia. After listening to Mr. Tran Ba Phuc, Chairman of the Association, report on the association’s activities and emphasize its important role in connecting businesses and promoting economic exchanges between the two countries, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan congratulated the Association on its achievements and informed about the socio-economic situation of Hanoi; emphasizing that the city is focusing on restructuring the apparatus and improving the investment environment.

Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan suggested that the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Association in Australia promote the achieved results, continue to propagate and mobilize the Vietnamese community in Australia and its members to comply with the regulations of the host country and the Party’s policies and laws of Vietnam; increase promotion and introduction of the image of the capital and the country; promote the friendly relationship and good cooperation between the two countries; step up connection activities, promote investment and trade cooperation between enterprises, including increasing promotion and investment activities with Hanoi.

*Also within the framework of the working trip, the Hanoi delegation visited and worked with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney.

Talking to the delegation, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam and Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney Nguyen Thanh Tung both highly appreciated the foreign affairs activities of the Hanoi delegation, especially the successful organization of the Hanoi – Australia Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference 2025 (a large-scale, meaningful, high-quality, practical and effective event).

Introducing the activities of the Embassy and Consulate General, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam and Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney Nguyen Thanh Tung both affirmed that after upgrading the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the political relationship between the two countries has developed to a new height and is in a good stage; suggested that Hanoi City study, continue to strengthen and promote cooperation with New South Wales state, Canberra capital, Victoria state and cities and localities of Australia.

On behalf of the delegation, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney for their close coordination with Hanoi and support for the delegation to successfully implement foreign affairs activities as planned.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council requested the Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia and the Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney to continue to pay attention, coordinate, and promote the image of Hanoi to international friends; promote the friendly relationship between Hanoi and Australian localities, and at the same time help Hanoi increase promotion, investment, exchange, and cooperation in various fields.

The visit and working session in Australia of the Hanoi delegation was successful, contributing to the consolidation and development of the cooperative relationship between Hanoi and Australian cities. These activities not only promote investment, trade and tourism but also create conditions for sustainable development in the future.
