Park Hyatt Sydney, Australia, May 15, 2024, the Promotion Of Building Material Trade And Cooperation In Construction & Property Development Australia Vietnam Summit 2024 took place successfully with the organization of Pistis Group, the support of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, and the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia.

The workshop attracted more than 120 delegates, including representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia; Vietnamese Trade Counselor in Australia; representatives of the New South Wales Business Association (Business NSW); Australia Vietnam Business Association (AVBC); Ho Chi Minh City Construction and Building Materials Association (SACA), Binh Duong Construction Association (BDCA); Ho Chi Minh City Handicraft and Wood Processing Association (HAWA); Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank – South Binh Duong branch, experts, construction material manufacturing enterprises, construction and real estate development enterprises from Vietnam and Australia.

Vietnam - Australia Construction Materials Export and Real Estate Cooperation Forum 2024 was a great success
Dr. Tran Nguyen on behalf of the Pistis Group Organizing Committee opened the forum.

The forum is one of the first trade promotion activities between the two countries after Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced the elevation of bilateral relations to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership at the Annual Leaders’ Meeting on 7 March 2024.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoa, Vietnam Trade Counselor in Australia, welcomed Vietnamese businesses and pledged the Trade Office’s support for market research and export activities of Vietnamese businesses in Australia.

Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoa, Vietnam Trade Counselor, spoke.

According to Mr. Grame Barty, International Trade Advisor of Business NSW, the housing demand of the whole of Australia is 1.2 million units, of which 320,000 units are in NSW state alone, and this is a golden opportunity for Vietnamese construction material manufacturing enterprises to export to the Australian market.

Ms Azalia Canuto-Ahmat, AVBC Secretary, presented on the development and needs of the Indigenous housing market. A 10-year, $4 billion agreement between the Federal Government and the Northern Territory Government aims to build 270 homes a year for remote Indigenous communities.

Along with that, Mr. Ron Cross, CEO of Pistis Group also presented on the rising price of construction materials and the shortage of supply, the shortage of skilled labor in the construction industry. At the same time, Mr. Jonathan McCray – Materials Engineer, ARUP Company, presented on compliance with the National Construction Regulations and related technical standards of Australia for Construction Materials, details on: Steel, windows and sustainable construction materials.

Architect Le Viet Hai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Construction and Building Materials (SACA) presented on the Supply Chain of Construction Materials and General Construction Contractor Services in Vietnam.

Representatives of Vietnamese construction material manufacturers including Mr. Pham Ngoc Thanh – Deputy General Director of TASA Group Joint Stock Company, Mr. Hoang Nguyen Son – Export Sales Director of ATAD Steel Structure Joint Stock Company, Mr. Luong The Nam – Export Director of Thach Ban Company Limited introduced advanced construction material products and technologies, affirming their quality and competitiveness in the international market.

At the Forum, a contract signing ceremony took place between Viettel Construction Joint Stock Corporation and HBC Build Australia on the procurement of construction materials for Ramada Sky Hotel and a housing project for people over 50 years old in Warwick.

Ms. Doan Thi Thanh Mai, representative of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, acknowledged the opinions at the Forum, shared the efforts of the Embassy in recent times to connect businesses and promote Vietnamese products, and committed to continue accompanying businesses in the future.

During the Q&A session lasting over 1 hour, Vietnamese construction material manufacturers shared their experiences in exporting construction materials, effective market access strategies, helping Vietnamese enterprises improve their capacity, better prepare for the export process and directly consulted with Mr. Jonathan McCray – Materials Engineer, ARUP Company, about quality standards and import regulations of Australia.

The forum ended successfully with many plans on exporting construction materials and cooperation in the fields of construction and real estate between Vietnam and Australia.
