According to VNA reporters, on May 7-8, the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in coordination with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney and the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia organized the “Ho Chi Minh City Pavilion Cluster” at the Sydney Build Expo 2025.

With the participation of 30 leading enterprises in the construction sector of Vietnam, members of the Ho Chi Minh City Construction and Building Materials Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Mechanical and Electrical Enterprises Association, the event aims to create opportunities for enterprises in the construction and building materials industry in Ho Chi Minh City to promote and introduce products, connect with construction companies, distributors and construction contractors, survey the market, grasp the tastes and trends of using construction materials in Australia and internationally.

Sydney Build Expo is Australia’s largest annual design and construction exhibition, officially sponsored by the Lord Mayor of Sydney and the Premier of New South Wales.

At this year’s exhibition, Vietnam participated on an unprecedented scale, with more than 30 booths, displaying a variety of products in the field of construction materials, attracting the attention of many visitors, marking Vietnam’s presence in the global construction field.

Sharing at the event, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Consul General of Vietnam in charge of New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia, said that in the context of global trade tensions, the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Sydney, the Vietnam Trade Office in Australia, the Ho Chi Minh City Construction and Building Materials Association and the Ho Chi Minh City Mechanical and Electrical Enterprises Association have promptly coordinated to organize a large-scale exhibition area specializing in construction materials and mechanics within the framework of Sydney Build Expo 2025.

Tổng Lãnh sự đánh giá đây là một sự kiện có ý nghĩa quan trọng trong bối cảnh chuỗi cung ứng của ngành này giữa Việt Nam và Australia còn nhiều tiềm năng lớn, với việc trong 3 tháng đầu năm 2025, các sản phẩm sắt thép tăng 61%, dây cáp điện tăng 53% so với cùng kỳ năm ngoái.

Trong khi đó, ông Nguyễn Phú Hòa, Trưởng cơ quan Thương vụ Việt Nam tại Australia, cho biết từ năm 2019, Thương vụ đã đẩy mạnh quảng bá xúc tiến thúc đẩy các mặt hàng của ngành này.

Nhiều mặt hàng như ximăng, sắt thép, dây cáp điện, nội ngoại thất… liên tục tăng trưởng mạnh mẽ.

Sau triển lãm, Thương vụ sẽ tiếp tục kết nối các doanh nghiệp Việt Nam với các dự án và quỹ đầu tư để tham gia các dự án, nhà phân phối, mạng lưới logistics, gian hàng trưng bày, qua đó cũng cố chuỗi cung ứng.

Trả lời phỏng vấn của phóng viên TTXVN bên lề sự kiện, ông Đào Minh Chánh, Phó Giám đốc ITPC, cho biết Sydney Build Expo 2025 thu hút hàng chục nghìn đối tác tiềm năng và khách tham quan Australia cũng như thế giới, vì vậy, đây là cơ hội lớn để các doanh nghiệp Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh tham gia triển lãm có cơ hội mở rộng thị trường, tìm kiếm các đối tác tiềm năng và nắm bắt các triển vọng xuất khẩu vật liệu sang thị trường của quốc gia châu Đại Dương, đặc biệt là trong bối cảnh thuận lợi khi quan hệ Việt Nam-Australia đã được nâng cấp lên Đối tác Chiến lược Toàn diện.

Đại diện các doanh nghiệp tham gia trưng bày sản phẩm tại triển lãm, ông Nguyễn Kinh Luân, Phó Tổng Giám đốc đầu tư và thị trường quốc tế của Công ty Cổ phần Tập đoàn Xây dựng Hòa Bình, cho biết Australia có tốc độ xây dựng nhanh nhưng lại rất thiếu các kỹ sư và lao động lành nghề. Vì vậy, đây là thị trường lớn và tiềm năng đối với các doanh nghiệp Việt Nam.

Theo nhận định của ông Luân, hiện giờ, Việt Nam là một trong những trung tâm lớn của châu Á về vật liệu xây dựng. Các doanh nghiệp tham gia triển lãm năm nay sẽ có cơ hội rất lớn để quảng bá các sản phẩm tại thị trường vật liệu xây dựng của Australia, từ đó có thể xuất khẩu các mặt hàng chất lượng cao của Việt Nam.

Tỏ ra thích thú và say sưa ngắm các sản phẩm được trưng bày tại “Cụm gian hàng Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh,” anh Johnathan Linnane, kỹ sư tại Hội đồng Thành phố Wollongong, cho biết anh rất ấn tượng với các sản phẩm gạch của Việt Nam bởi chúng được thiết kế theo một cách sáng tạo và đặc biệt.

Đồng tình với nhận xét đó, chị El’lena Manning, một người bạn cùng tham quan triển lãm với anh Linnne, nói: “Từ những gì tôi đã xem ở đây, tôi thấy có rất nhiều sự đổi mới, sáng tạo và rất nhiều vật liệu chất lượng tốt. Tôi thật sự rất hào hứng muốn xem các bạn Việt Nam sẽ giới thiệu những sản phẩm tuyệt vời gì đến với đất nước chúng tôi.”

Meanwhile, Ms. Carmen Bawelkiewics, a visitor, said that many Australian companies are currently looking for construction materials from foreign countries, especially innovative technologies. Therefore, with their strengths and uniqueness, Vietnamese products displayed at the exhibition can be warmly welcomed and have the opportunity to penetrate the Australian market.

In addition to participating in the exhibition booth, businesses and units of Ho Chi Minh City also attended sideline seminars on the topic of ecological innovation in decorative materials, the journey to access international markets; general introduction of Vietnam’s construction materials industry, trends, trade and transformation as well as opportunities to expand the market in Australia.

At the workshop, Mr. Nghiem Xuan Hoa, Minister Counselor, Deputy Ambassador of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, said that Australia has established a fund worth 10 billion AUD to build 100,000 houses for first-time home buyers, and is committed to green development and spending 2 billion AUD on green aluminum production.

Meanwhile, the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises in the construction sector is increasingly improving. Therefore, there are good opportunities to promote the construction materials industry and cooperate in construction projects in Australia.

Deputy Ambassador Nghiem Xuan Hoa affirmed that the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia, together with the Vietnamese Consulates General in Sydney and Perth, and the Vietnamese Trade Office in Sydney, will support businesses of both countries to realize potential cooperative relationships./.
