The Australian Federal Government is investing approximately AUD 160 million to accelerate European-style construction methods \u2014 particularly prefabrication, modular housing, and factory-built housing systems \u2014 as part of efforts to address the national housing shortage.<\/p>\n
In countries such as Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria, factory-built housing represents a much larger share of the residential construction sector than in Australia. Rather than building entirely on site, major components or complete housing modules are manufactured in controlled factory environments and then transported for installation.<\/p>\n
