Continuing the working program in Australia and New Zealand, from March 31 to April 3, 2025, the Hanoi City Delegation led by Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council, visited and worked in Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On March 31, in Sydney, the Delegation had a working session with Mr. Rodney John Roberts – Deputy President of the Senate of New South Wales, Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and introduced the capital Hanoi, while emphasizing the outstanding achievements in the city’s socio-economic development.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hanoi hopes that the Vice President of the Senate and the New South Wales state parliamentarians will act as a bridge to promote the good friendship, enhance business connection activities, promote investment, trade, tourism, education and training between Hanoi and Sydney and other localities of Australia; and continue to have policies of interest and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcoming the Hanoi delegation, Mr. Rodney John Roberts affirmed that he will continue to coordinate and promote the good friendship between the state of New South Wales, including Sydney city, and Hanoi city.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the meeting, the two sides also exchanged and shared information on the structure, organization, and model of the three-level government; experiences in building and promulgating mechanisms and policies for economic development, urban management, environment, transportation, culture, society, and monitoring activities of elected agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the same afternoon (March 31), in Sydney, the Hanoi delegation attended the Conference \u201cPromoting Investment, Trade and Tourism between Hanoi and Australia 2025\u201d. Attending the event were leaders of the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; the Australian Trade and Investment Commission; representatives of business councils, business associations and more than 120 Australian businesses and investors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan emphasized the strong development of the Vietnam – Australia relationship, especially after the two countries upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He affirmed Hanoi’s commitment to improving the investment environment, with an economic growth target of 8% or more. This will create a premise for the 2026-2030 period, towards double-digit growth. Therefore, Hanoi is a safe, attractive and potential destination, a favorable investment environment for foreign businesses and investors, including Australia. The Hanoi City Government always attaches importance to, accompanies and is ready to create the best conditions for businesses interested in, investing and doing business effectively in Hanoi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Consul General of Vietnam in Sydney, highly appreciated Hanoi for organizing the Conference \u201cPromoting Investment, Trade and Tourism Hanoi – Australia 2025\u201d. This is a meaningful conference, the largest in scale among Vietnamese localities organized in Sydney. The conference attracted trade – investment – tourism promotion organizations, industry associations and more than 120 enterprises and investors in the fields of investment, construction, import and export, healthcare, tourism, education and training, technology, innovation, etc., who are looking for opportunities for substantive investment cooperation with Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n

He also said that there is still a lot of room for cooperation, investment promotion, trade and tourism between Vietnam in general and Hanoi in particular with Australian localities and believes that after this conference, there will be more exchange activities, market surveys, and joint development of promotion programs, especially in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, education, technology and digital transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the Conference, the delegation witnessed the signing ceremony of memorandums of understanding and cooperation agreements between Hanoi and Australian enterprises.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leaving Sydney, the delegation visited and worked with the Canberra government. Here, Mr. Chris Steel, Minister for Planning and Sustainable Development of Canberra, received the delegation. The two sides discussed solutions to promote economic growth, planning, planning management, transportation, wastewater and waste treatment, air quality improvement, and renewable energy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding the direction of cooperation between the two capitals, the two sides agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels and strengthen cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, education and training, culture and consider signing an official cooperation agreement between the two capitals of Hanoi and Canberra.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Melbourne, the delegation visited the Victorian Parliament and worked with Ms. Maree Edwards, Speaker of the Victorian House of Representatives.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here, the Speaker of the House of Representatives introduced the model of government organization of Australia, states and cities of Australia; exchanged and shared experiences in activities, especially in building policies and monitoring activities of elected bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan respectfully thanked the Speaker of the House of Representatives and proposed that the Victorian Parliament become a bridge to promote friendly relations between Australian localities and Hanoi in various fields; continue to care for and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and studying in Melbourne and localities of Victoria.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the visit, the delegation worked with the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Association in Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

After listening to Mr. Tran Ba Phuc, Chairman of the Association, report on the Association’s activities and emphasize its important role in connecting businesses and promoting economic exchanges between the two countries, Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan congratulated the Association on its achievements and informed about the socio-economic situation of Hanoi, emphasizing that the city is focusing on restructuring the apparatus and improving the investment environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

Comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan suggested that the Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Association in Australia promote the achieved results, continue to propagate and mobilize the Vietnamese community in Australia and its members to comply with the regulations of the host country and the Party’s policies and laws of Vietnam; increase promotion and introduction of the image of the capital and the country; promote the friendly relationship and good cooperation between the two countries; step up connection activities, promote investment and trade cooperation between enterprises, including increasing promotion and investment activities with Hanoi city.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also within the framework of the working trip, the Hanoi delegation visited and worked with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney.<\/span><\/p>\n

Talking to the delegation, comrade Pham Hung Tam, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia and comrade Nguyen Thanh Tung, Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney both highly appreciated the foreign affairs activities of the Hanoi delegation, especially the successful organization of the Hanoi – Australia Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference 2025, an event of scale, meaning, quality, practicality and efficiency.<\/span><\/p>\n

Introducing the activities of the Embassy and Consulate General, the comrades affirmed that after upgrading the relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership, the political relationship between the two countries has developed to a new height and is in a good stage; they suggested that Hanoi city study, continue to strengthen and promote cooperation with the state of New South Wales, the capital Canberra, the state of Victoria and cities and localities of Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

On behalf of the delegation, comrade Nguyen Ngoc Tuan respectfully thanked the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney for their close coordination with Hanoi city and support for the delegation to successfully implement foreign affairs activities as planned.<\/span><\/p>\n

He suggested that the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney continue to pay attention, coordinate, and promote the image of Hanoi to international friends; promote the friendly relationship between Hanoi and Australian localities, and help the city increase promotion, investment, exchange, and cooperation in various fields.<\/span><\/p>\n

The visit and working session in Australia of the Hanoi City Delegation was successful, contributing to the consolidation and development of the cooperative relationship between Hanoi and Australian localities.
