VOV.VN – Yesterday (April 4), a working delegation from Hanoi City led by Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee and Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council, concluded a working visit to Australia from March 31 to April 3.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

During their stay in Australia, the delegation had many important meetings with leaders of state parliaments and major cities in Australia, attended the Investment and Trade Promotion Conference and met with a number of overseas Vietnamese businesses in Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

On March 31, in Sydney, the delegation had a working session with Mr. Rodney John Roberts – Vice President of the Senate of New South Wales, Australia. At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan gave an overview of Hanoi and the City People’s Council, and said that on the basis of the developing relationship between the two countries, Hanoi hopes that the Vice President of the Senate and the New South Wales State parliamentarians will be a bridge to promote the friendly relationship, strengthen business connection activities, promote investment, trade, tourism, education and training between Hanoi and Sydney and other localities of Australia; continue policies of interest, creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Australia. On this occasion, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan respectfully invited the leaders of the New South Wales State Senate to visit Hanoi in the near future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Welcoming the delegation from Hanoi, Vice President of the Senate of New South Wales, Mr. Rodney John Roberts expressed his pleasure to welcome the high-ranking delegation from Hanoi and emphasized that the visit was very meaningful in the context of the two countries upgrading their relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership. Mr. Rodney John Roberts affirmed that he would continue to coordinate and promote the good friendship between New South Wales, including Sydney, and Hanoi.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the meeting, the two sides also exchanged and shared information on the structure, organization, and model of the three-level government; experiences in building and promulgating mechanisms and policies for economic development, urban management, environment, transportation, culture, society, and monitoring activities of elected agencies.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the afternoon of March 31, the Hanoi delegation attended the Conference \u201cPromoting Investment, Trade and Tourism between Hanoi and Australia 2025\u201d held in Sydney. The conference was attended by representatives of the Australian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade; the Australian Trade and Investment Commission; representatives of Business Councils, Business Associations and more than 120 Australian businesses and investors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council, introduced the potential of Hanoi, not only as a national political and administrative center, a special urban area but also a major center of economy, culture, education and training, science, technology and international integration of the whole country. Hanoi is currently promoting innovation, restructuring the apparatus, institutional reform, administrative reform, improving the investment environment with the goal of economic growth of 8% or more, creating a premise for the period 2026-2030 to achieve double-digit growth. Therefore, Hanoi is a safe, attractive and potential destination, a favorable investment environment for foreign businesses and investors, including Australia. The Hanoi City Government always attaches importance to, accompanies and is ready to create the best conditions for businesses interested in, investing and doing business effectively in Hanoi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Consul General of Vietnam in Sydney congratulated and highly appreciated Hanoi for successfully organizing the Conference “Promoting Investment, Trade and Tourism Hanoi – Australia 2025”. Attending the conference were representatives of many trade – investment – tourism promotion organizations, industry associations and more than 120 enterprises and investors in the fields of investment, construction, import and export, healthcare, tourism, education and training, technology, innovation… Among them, there are enterprises looking for partners to import goods for the construction industry at reasonable prices from Vietnam as well as looking for opportunities to export to Vietnam mining products, agricultural technology, water management and looking for opportunities for enterprises operating in the field of financial technology of the two countries to cooperate with each other.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the Conference, the delegation witnessed the signing ceremony of three memorandums of understanding and cooperation agreements between Hanoi and Australian businesses.<\/span><\/p>\n

Leaving Sydney, on April 1, the delegation visited and worked with the Canberra Capital Authority. Also joining the delegation was Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Pham Hung Tam. Receiving and working with the delegation was Senator Chris Steel, Minister for Planning and Sustainable Development of the Australian Capital Territory.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the meeting, the two sides discussed and shared experiences in areas of concern such as solutions to promote economic growth, planning, planning management, transportation, wastewater and waste treatment, air environment improvement, and renewable energy. Regarding the orientation of friendly cooperation between the two capitals in the coming time, the two sides agreed to promote delegation exchanges at all levels, strengthen cooperation in the fields of investment, trade, tourism, education and training, culture and consider signing an official cooperation agreement between the two capitals of Hanoi and Canberra.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On April 2, the delegation visited the Parliament of Victoria; attended the plenary session of the House of Representatives and worked with Ms. Maree Edwards, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Victoria. During the meeting, Ms. Maree Edwards introduced the model of government organization of Australia, the States and cities of Australia; exchanged and shared experiences in activities, especially the development of policies and supervision activities of elected bodies.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the discussion, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan proposed that the Parliament of Victoria act as a bridge to promote the friendly and cooperative relationship between Australian localities and Hanoi in various fields; continue to pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and studying in Melbourne and other localities of the state. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council also invited the Speaker of the Victorian House of Representatives to visit and work with Hanoi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also on April 2, the delegation visited and worked with the Vietnam Business Association in Australia, an organization that acts as a bridge to promote economic exchanges between the two countries, an information and consulting channel for businesses on both sides in trade and investment promotion activities, economic exchanges; attracting resources from businesses and overseas Vietnamese living in Australia to invest and do business in Vietnam.<\/span><\/p>\n

On behalf of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Business Association in Australia, Mr. Tran Ba Phuc, Chairman of the Association, said: The Vietnam Business Association in Australia currently has about 500 members, of which 400 are Vietnamese. The members always strictly implement the laws of the host country; the Party’s guidelines and policies, the policies and laws of the Vietnamese state, have been and are developing comprehensively in all socio-economic fields, are messengers of friendship, catalysts promoting economic, trade and investment relations, and fostering the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan suggested that the Vietnam Business Association in Australia promote the achieved results, continue to propagate and mobilize the Vietnamese community in Australia and its members to comply with the regulations of the host country and the policies of the Party and the laws of Vietnam; increase the promotion and introduction of the image of the capital and the country; promote the friendly relationship and good cooperation between the two countries; step up activities to connect and promote investment and trade cooperation between enterprises, including increasing promotion and investment activities with Hanoi city.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the working trip, the Hanoi delegation visited and worked with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking with the delegation, Mr. Pham Hung Tam, Ambassador of Vietnam to Australia and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Consul General of Vietnam in Sydney both highly appreciated the foreign affairs activities of the Hanoi delegation, especially the successful organization of the Hanoi – Australia Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Conference 2025. The representative of the Vietnamese diplomatic mission in Australia also reviewed the new steps in bilateral relations and said that the Vietnamese community in Australia is large, living, studying, working stably, obeying the law, highly appreciated and respected by the local authorities and this is a favorable condition for localities of the two countries, including the capital Hanoi, to promote and strengthen cooperation in all fields, especially investment and trade cooperation. He suggested that Hanoi city study, continue to strengthen and promote cooperation with the state of New South Wales, the capital Canberra, the state of Victoria and cities and localities of Australia.<\/span><\/p>\n

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People’s Council, sincerely thanked the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney for their close coordination with Hanoi City in the past time and supported the delegation to successfully implement foreign affairs activities according to plan and requested the Vietnamese Embassy in Australia and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney to continue to pay attention, coordinate, and promote the image of the capital Hanoi to international friends; promote the friendly relationship between Hanoi and Australian localities, and at the same time help Hanoi City increase promotion, investment, exchange, and cooperation in various fields.<\/span><\/p>\n
